URGENT: CAN YOU HELP US TO KEEP REFUGE DOGS AND CATS DRY AND WARM ? - The refuge at Tarbes Nord where we work is sadly in need of urgent basic repairs. PLEASE CONTRIBUTE OR DONATE
We have started a programme of urgent works to improve the conditions of the many animals we try to help and re-home. YOU COULD HELP, we need materials (or donations to purchase), and anybody with some construction ability, even for just a couple of hours.
PLEASE HELP, if there’s anything you think you can help with (donate materials or labour) please contact me via PM, write to email@example.com or phone 06 40 59 40 01.
TO DONATE TOWARDS PURCHASE (materials to insulate, stop major leaks and make good pen areas are around 900 euros) no matter how small, your donations are most welcome. Please click on DONATE. Mark your contribution "materials".
Gathering treats is really nice . . and they are done in two seconds!
We want to offer something more long-lasting to the animals abandoned in refuges around us, as we did last year. This year we are focusing on the two main trouble-causing parasites for dogs and cats in refuges - worms and fleas.
Please read Missy's message below, and help in any way you can. If you choose to donate by clicking the "Donate" button, then please put "comfy" in the message box so that we can ensure your contribution goes directly to the purchase of appropriate worming and flea eradication products.
There will be a Les Amis des Animaux stall at a number of Christmas Markets in the area during December selling festive presents and decorations both crafted and gifted - and including Les Amis T-shirts and stylish aprons, pens, and bandanas... and of course not forgetting our 2016 Calendar!
SATURDAY 12 DECEMBER - CASTELNAU MAGNOAC
SUNDAY 13 DECEMBER - MARCIAC
SUNDAY 20 DECEMBER - TRIE SUR BAISE
In addition a specially-formed and well-rehearsed LES AMIS DES ANIMAUX CHOIR will be filling the air with sounds of the season, both traditional and modern, in English and French at Trie sur Baise and Castelnau Magnoac - all in aid of Les Amis des Animaux.
If you wish to contribute any small gift or crafted item to the stall, please contact Melanie.
Thank you to everyone for making our first Dinner Dance a successful evening. We would loved to have had more of you there and that would have helped boost our funds. However we know that everyone who came had a wonderful time - pretty much everyone managed to win a raffle prize, and throughout the evening we were charmed by the magic of Peter Oz who gave his services to us for free in order to help more animals in need. Thank you Peter! It was wonderful to have a mix of French and English, of people who are long time supporters and others who had never even heard of us. Thank you also to Guy Abbadie and his staff who also volunteered their time to us. And of course a special mention for all those volunteers who spent time before the event making the room look so splendid . . . and those who turned up the following day to leave the hall even cleaner than we had found it!
Thank you to everyone who contributed in so many different ways to making our Spring Fair a huge success. The sun shone brightly all day for the second year running! The parade of adopted dogs and dogs in foster did themselves proud - each one sporting their Les Amis bandanas. There is litle doubt that one of the main focal points was the Fun Dog Show that attracted good entries throughout. We are so grateful to everyone for joining in the fun with their canine friends. There was a great deal of laughter and lots of camaraderie. Delicious cakes were very popular as was the tombola where there were some fantastic prizes to be won. In all we raised well over 2,000 euros which will be actively and directly used over the next few months to improve the well-being and adoptability of dogs and cats. This includes sterilisations and essential medical treatment.
