Les Amis Fundraising Highlights of 2024!

WHAT FUND RAISING EVENTS FOR LES AMIS HAPPENED IN 2024?

These are just some of them ….

  • Elise ran the Paris Marathon and raised over €3000

  • Theatre company let us run a raffle and that raised €663

  • Marta Kapinska had her lovely long hair cut for Clips for Cliff and raised €3353

  • Scrap gold and silver sales raised €5756

  • Coffee mornings raised over €500

  • Christmas Fayre raised €1000

Here’s some great advice from Suse Worman. Last year (2024) “I did my first two fund-raising events with the help of a friend.  And boy, you do need help!  It was great fun and we made lots of new contacts with the hope that some will foster or adopt in the future.

I did learn a lot and wanted to share with you my thoughts should you be kind enough to consider holding a public event to support les Amis des Animaux.

LEAFLETS – you will need to spread far and wide in neighbouring villages and towns.   Shops, Vets, hand them out to people (I handed them to anyone I heard speaking English in our local Super-U!), bars, restaurants, Post Offices – anywhere you can think of. You will need to produce these yourself, but we can help with logos, wording and such like. We did French and English double-sided.

A4 POSTERS – for notice boards such as those in supermarkets.

HELP – try to solicit people to help with refreshments.  At our Christmas Fayre I was so busy serving all day that I didn’t get to actually talk to people.  I gave my number out, but you really need someone to “work the crowd” and explain what Les Amis is about and answer questions.

TOMBOLA – worked a treat both times. Ask local businesses if they can donate anything – we had some lovely prizes given to us.

STANDS – if you are inviting others to sell their crafts or whatever, rather than charge for space, just ask that they make a financial donation to Les Amis at the end of the day. Ensure that you find out how much space/how many tables each one needs.  Some supply their own tables but if they don’t, can you source some.

MAIRIE – do tell your local Mairie what you are doing – for publicity and to encourage more people along.

TIME – give yourself time to set-up the day before – it always take longer than you think.

TRIED AND WON’T DO AGAIN –

books – we had far too many and people were not really interested

bric-a-brac – just not worth the effort and you have to consider a) setting up and pricing and b) storage of all that doesn’t sell

stands – try not to have two selling the same thing

DOING THIS YEAR – JUNE 2025

Outdoor yoga by a picturesque port, followed by coffee/tea and cake!!!

However, fund raising events don’t have to be huge. Invite friends round for coffee, a tea party, a plant swap – with donations going to Les Amis.

Every penny counts!
