‘Dogged’ determination

This week we have a story about perseverance and ‘dogged’ determination. Some of you may remember just before Christmas we put a shout out for a new home for a beautiful 6 month old border collie pup called Blaze (previously Vaillant). His fosterer had this to say about him……

He is a beautiful boy, just 6 months old, a super affectionate pup, he has taken on the role of big brother to all the other fosterlings amazingly.

He is of course an energetic puppy BUT he rests well. He is a fast learner, loves to cuddle & loves his food!

A lovely family came forward and offered Blaze the home he desperately needed. All his Christmases had come at once, the lucky lad! Vanessa and her family already had an elderly collie of 13 years old, they thought getting a pup would give the old girl a new lease of life. They had a few teething problems as young Blaze is a very confident pup and was sometimes a bit much for their other dog. He had some naughty habits too, jumping up and biting being the main issues. It was very clear that Vanessa and her family had become very attached to Blaze, as he is such a sweet boy, despite his bad habits habits and they really didn’t want to give up on him. Vanessa got in touch with Les Amis, our team offered support & guidance, and above all, some training tips to try and stop the little rascal’s naughtiness. Fast forward a little and Blaze is coming along in leaps and bounds (sorry!) He is much calmer now and his jumping and mouthing have reduced drastically. His training is coming along slowly, his recall still needs a little work but, he’s getting there! It’s been an emotional time for Vanessa, the first time Blaze wagged his tail, she was sure she had something in her eyes, as they kept watering!

We cannot thank Vanessa and family enough for not giving up on Blaze, their hard work and perseverance have made a huge difference to Blaze, his future is looking very bright. He’s not so little anymore either – 24Kg of gorgeousness!
