Meet ATRYOU – an unusual name for an unusual boy given what we think is his breed type – Braque St Germain – a very unusual, handsome multi-purpose gundog – an all-rounder. These dogs are described as having a temperament which is Affectionate, Sociable, Companionable, Trainable, Passionate, Familial. We can certainly say that ATRYOU has shown us those traits in the limited way possible for him at the moment.
Limited, because ATRYOU is currently in a pension and is ready to move to a home environment. He was moved from the refuge to the pension as a stepping stone because he needed a chance to grow and develop. We had no knowledge of his background but he appeared to be a raw recruit – which indeed he was.
Now he is ready, responsive and eager to become a true family member. As with all Gundogs – and Braques in particular, he needs an active family who are prepared to support his development by helping him improve on a daily basis. He has the basics but he does not yet have ‘his‘ human – and that for a braque is an essential element. While they are superb family dogs, there has to be that one person to whom they look for guidance and indication of what is required.
