HERA was found wandering, and fell into bad hands.  She was taken over by a lady who although working many hours away, took pity on her.  What she did not realise was that Hera was already in whelp . . . until she presented her with 4 wee ones.  Unfortunately one died soon after birth and thankfully these three have continued to survive. (See https://lesamisdesanimaux.com/dogs/herapups/ ‎)

HERA, a young  girl with a fabulous russet coat, has been a super mum but is breathing a sigh of relief as the pups are gradually being weaned. She loves the outdoors and can’t wait to get out there to ‘help’ her foster dad In the garden. Playing ball, cat patrol and watching TV are her favourite hobbies . Her recall is good and she is soooo affectionate. She has now learnt to ‘Sit’ on command and loves to be groomed.  So in these early days we are concluding that she is one bright cookie.

UPDATE:  We now know that HERA is indeed a German Shorthaired Pointer.  These popular all-round gundogs are renowned for being great family dogs and wonderful pets.  The are stoical, love to play, quick to learn and a joy to have around.  HERA would appear to be no exception to that general overview.

Because she has been on maternal duties and had had no protection for herself in regard to vaccination, she has not been outside the large garden that forms part of her foster home, other than in the car to visit other already protected dogs – with whom she has had no problems at all.  Her experience of the outside world may therefore be limited.  However it cannot be zero as she was found wandering – so must be somewhat wise!

HERA has moved to what we hope is her forever family.  She is currently in Foster with View to Adoption until she is able to be sterilised.

UPDATE:  We are delighted that now she is sterilised HERA is going nowhere.  She is staying put with her forever family and we are delighted.
