KALY has moved to what we hope will be her forever home.
This dog has been in the equivalent of “plaster” now for well over six months. She has suffered setbacks over and over again and has still enjoyed her joie de vivre.
KALY was injured on her two front legs including her paws . . . and had to wait a month before she got any attention at all when she was finally abandoned to a refuge and then urgent action was taken. She underwent a 3-hour operation to reconstruct her damaged bones and now has both legs in plaster.
KALY is undergoing convalescence with careful crate rest. Keeping her mind occupied is part of the secret of success – but it is also good and careful dedicated fostering that is making the difference for her.
It will be some time before KALY is fit and well and ready for adoption, but that time will come. In the meantime we’ll follow her story and update her profile as we go. If however she has already captured your heart, we’d be delighted to hear from you.
UPDATE ON KALY
Kaly’s recovery has been slow with lots of setbacks – not least because she found taking her thick dressing off her legs something of a game in her boredom! She also had a severe skin problem which is now pretty much cured. In mid April she faces what we hope is one last operation to fuse the bones in her pastern as they were totally smashed and this last step was seen as almost inevitable.
Let us say that throughout all of her ordeals she has been a real trooper. Her temperament is wonderful and her fosterer would say that she has a real sense of humour!
