“What a lovely dog ….. what breed is he?” they all ask…such a handsome boy must surely be straight out of Crufts! But no….Lipton is just Lipton – a gorgeous cross with a lot of labrador, with some unknown Heinz 57, some fabulous hints of auburn,  . . . and very long legs!

LIPTON is just 5 years old and unfortunately little is known of his life before he was abandoned. Quite a reserved boy, he is blossoming in his foster home and now follows his new ‘mum’ everywhere. In her words he is obedient, completely house-trained, good in the car and good with other dogs. As he gains in confidence he is showing what an energetic, even athletic dog he is.

So is he the perfect dog? The answer is no, not yet, but he makes progress every day. He is learning that his food will not be taken away from him, so he doesn’t need to use the hoover technique to eat it quickly; that if his ‘mum’ leaves him it is not forever, she does come back. He is quite good on-lead but has to learn not to pull when he spots something interesting up ahead.

LIPTON came into foster very very thin – like he could not put on any weight. He now has several devices to help him slow down his eating and get more value out of his food.   He is starting to put on weight, filling out his deep chest, and muscling up his legs thanks to the exercise he is getting.  All in all he is starting to look a real picture.

This is what his foster Mum says about him:

What a lovely boy! Lipton is obedient, and somewhat reserved – but he beams with joy and happiness when he sees his favourite ball to play fetch.

In the morning he will greet you with a smile (literally) and a little happy dance and at night he might decide to put himself to bed when he wants some peace and quiet. He loves cuddles and tickles especially a good back scratch.

This boy really deserves a second chance.  He is fine with other dogs, and would equally be happy as an only dog.

Unfortunately we have not yet been able to test on cats (though he was said to be OK cats on refuge test), nor has he met other animals.  Hopefully this will soon change as getting out and about becomes more possible.

If you are looking for a leggy, handsome boy who is full of energy and eager to learn then LIPTON may just be the dog for you.

LIPTON is currently fostered in Department 31 (Haute Garonne) but is available for adoption anywhere in France subject to a successful home check. If you would like to know more about LIPTON, have the opportunity to meet him either virtually or in reality, you can:
