Meet MAJA who lives up to her Spanish name. She is going to be a big girl, a beautiful girl, and a brilliant girl in the right hands.
She and her brother were rescued from a couple living in an apartment who felt unable to manage these rapidly growing pups, plus their mother, in such tight conditions. Their vet put them in touch with us and we were happy to try and help.
The puppies had been well-raised with their Mum but were just too too much once they got to seven weeks old and needed space, and of course, like all puppies, were peeing and pooping for France!
Mum is a full Siberian Husky . . . Dad said to be a passer-by and described as large, black and fluffy with long ears. MAJA is a bit of both – her looks are those of her mother, yet she is courageous and adventurous like her nocturnal father – and not lacking in the confidence stakes! She is that wonderful mix of rough and tumble “I’m the bravest of the brave” and “please give me a tummy rub”.
MAJA is now vaccinated and chipped, wormed and deparasited. She weighs 10 kg at 13 weeks, is fit and acquiring an adult coat that has tinges of silver grey. She is used to living in a very busy home with several other dogs, two children and several adults. She is unfazed by household noises and is very much at home outside as well as inside.
MAJA needs a home with a large fenced outside space, a family of experienced dog owners, and with other dogs in the home. Huskies are happiest in a pack situation where they will find their place in the hierarchy. A lone husky rarely works and if left alone will be very unhappy and is likely to be destructive . . . like most young dogs, but more so.
MAJA has already shown a strong prey drive so there should be no cats, free-range chickens, bunnies in hutches . . . or caged birds (budgerigars, parrots, etc) in the chosen home. We do not want to set her up to fail.
MAJA is a lovely puppy and very good with children. Finding the right, experienced home is essential. This breed type is one of the closest to nature, so understanding her and her needs will make the difference for her future success.
MAJA is currently fostered in Department 32 (Gers) but is available to travel to the right, approved home. If MAJA appeals to you and you are used to large dogs in your life, are interested in training through to adulthood, and love Nordic and working breeds, then please:
