Please meet ROCKY who was happily adopted from us some little while ago.  Sadly his Dad has become ill and his Mum is finding life a bit of a struggle to meet ROCKY’S needs with all her other commitments.  She does not feel she can do the best for him and so very reluctantly is looking for a new home for him and has come to us for help.

ROCKY is a handsome German Shorthaired Pointer – one of those gorgeous all-round gundogs that make fabulous family pets and human companions.  They are very loyal, and that wonderful mix of couch potato and fit athlete depending what’s on offer at any given time.

ROCKY lives very happily in the home environment alongside another dog.  He is accepting of and good with the house cats, but any others outside may be a reason to chase, especially if they run.  He has most of the basic commands; is generally good on the lead and can be walked on short or long-line depending on the purpose and activity.  There are absolutely no problems with the vet, travelling in the car, and in busy areas.  He is a true family dog as his fosterer points out:

Rocky likes to think he is a lap dog ….as that was impossible we had to buy a bigger settee so he could spread out and still have a cuddle !!   He loves attention, strokes , tummy tickles etc.   He loves his food and his good boy treats.

ROCKY is looking for a family who loves the outdoors just as much as snuggling by the fireside.  A large fenced garden would be a plus but a smaller garden with regular exercise (brain and body) would be just fine too.  He would welcome a canine companion as he has known successful free-running in safe environments (preferably not near lakes with ducks as he will swim forever in the hope of catching them!)  His recall is good – though like all dogs can be iffy if on something much more interesting!!  As we know timing is of the essence here to improve recall.  Chickens safely cooped would be fine but not free-range as the temptation would be too great for him.

ROCKY’S home is currently in Department 22 (Côtes d’Armor, Brittany).  He was originally way down in the south-west of France so is a well-travelled and very adaptable dog!
