We can only surmise what happened to this gorgeous boy, who was reported to us as standing by a country roadside for over a week! If someone loses their dog we tell them to leave a jacket where the dog last saw them and they can be fairly sure that that is where the dog will return to. So…….. callous human being dumps Roy on a country lane and faithful Roy waits and waits, never moving from the spot where he last saw his ‘master’.  We learned that he had been reported on all usual media and with all usual authorities – but no-one looked for him.

As soon as he was reported to Les Amis, the team sprang into action and before nightfall Roy was safely in emergency foster. The next day he was taken to see the local vet. Surprise, surprise, he wasn’t identified.  Because he has not been searched for or claimed,  he was immediately chipped to LesAmis, primo vaccinated, got his passport, treated against parasites, and we are now moving forward to get him sterilised. We are also getting a good look at his ears while he is under anaesthetic.

Moreover, thanks to some of our fosterers who foster over and over again for us, he has now moved on to his foster home for love, socialisation, learning and development.

Even at this early stage in his journey, he is proving to be a gentle, affectionate boy, good with humans and other dogs. Perhaps not surprisingly, he is not yet used to being on-lead, and sadly we now also know that Roy does not know about a house.  He is sleeping outside . . . by the side of the car . . . not in a bed.  Lots of work to be done but he is in patient and loving hands.

More news to come as Roy’s character emerges, but in the meantime, please contact us if you think that even in the short-term future you think Roy would make a grand family member.
