Goodbye Bobby GF (Greyfriers)

You will remember this old boy – found wandering, emaciated and with staples above his eye (not professionally placed). 

Work in animal welfare is not all happy endings and sometimes we are presented with the impossible. Such is the case here – his state and above all the infection too far gone. And this is the tribute written by his foster family – they who stepped forward and said “we’ll be there for him” . . . and they were, sadly for just a few short days . . . and we are eternally grateful.

We want to tell everyone, that sadly Bobby GF became too ill to be saved. The time came for us to make the sad decision to put him to rest, which we did yesterday. It had become clear that he was too weak and exhausted to carry on. We want to thank our wonderful vet Dr.Playoust and her daughter, Emilie for their nurturing care and unwavering support when it came to making that important decision. It gave Bobby a few more days of sunbathing with our pack of 5, and soaking up the heat from the woodburner in the little room reserved for them all. He had chosen to be part of the gang and they accepted him immediately. Here was home for a few days and he will be remembered here with a plant in the shade of the cherry tree.
