Help Pippin brave cancer

Pippin loves to play with his sister, Polly, and then to take a long nap together. He’s also a master of the ‘crazy sleeping position’. But now Pippin is facing cancer and spine surgery.

Pippin is a two year old Braque X who came to Les Amis as a puppy.

He had a deformed oesophagus, which was operated on, but he can still only eat a liquid diet. Despite this, Pippin is a happy, active dog.

However, a few weeks ago Pippin started losing the use of his back legs. After several visits to the vet he was sent for a scan and MRI, where it was discovered that Pippin had a tumour on his spine.

The vet operated on his back to take a biopsy and this resulted in the prognosis of a very aggressive cancerous lymphoma on the main vertebrae, which has significantly weakened Pippin’s spine.

In order to access the tumour, the vet had to cut a hole in his spine, and now, between the tumour and the hole, Pippin could easily fracture his spine.

To prevent his spine from snapping and leaving him paralysed, Pippin will need another operation to place metal rods to strengthen his spine. He will also start four rounds of chemo.

This is an awful lot for a dog to go through but Pippin is young and strong.

The total cost of the surgery to place the rods, and the four rounds of chemo is 7000 euros. Any scans are 600 euros each. Yes, our goal is 7000 euros! This is a huge amount but, with your help, we can do it!
