LUCY ex SALSA ex STELLA aka SETTER MUM

One year ago, on the Les Amis des Animaux Facebook page, Annette saw a photo of three-year-old English setter, Lucy, and her 4 puppies, with an appeal for a foster place for the mum. Immediately she sent an offer to foster, and in less than a week she drove for two hours to meet Lucy (in a carpark) for the first time.

“She was totally shut down and would only walk a few steps before freezing. So after putting her into the back of our car, I drove back home, and Lucy settled very nicely for the journey.

At home were a 15 year-old old border collie, Gruby, and an 18 month old mixture, Bear, adopted from LADA when he was 8 weeks old. Lucy put them both in their place before she went into her own room to decompress. After just a few days, she was happy to spend time with us (on her terms).

4 months later we sadly lost our border collie, however, Lucy and Bear then became partners in crime and the best of friends. Lucy has gone on a couple of adventures on her own but fortunately she has a gps tracker, so we caught up with her. She certainly knows where she lives and is loved.

We cannot imagine life without Lucy, she is a cuddle monster and will always let us know when it’s her mealtime. We would have another setter in a heartbeat”
