Oscar abandoned after being hit by a car

One of the poor souls needing immediate attention is Oscar, a four month old Spanish Alano. You are not alone if you have never heard of that breed. Oscar had been bought from a breeder then left pretty much alone all day. So, of course, he started escaping his yard, and, on Wednesday, was hit by a car. The driver didn’t stop but a couple saw what happened and took him to the vets in Le Vernet. Oscar’s owner decided he wouldn’t pay for his treatment and left him with the vet, who contacted Les Amis.

Oscar has a broken paw which needed a good repair so that it could hold his adult weight and not become arthritic while he was still young. The initial vet bill is 1 500 euros.

Luckily, Les Amis Des Animaux has found a fosterer for Oscar, who will help him in his recovery. He is going to need rest for one month, only going outside on a lead to do his business. After one month, he will have an X ray and then gentle exercise will be possible.
