Lula and Pickle

We first welcomed Lula into our home in May last year. We were told she’s a 10 year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and that her lovely owner was very poorly.  She needed to lose a little weight and that she needs a bit of TLC and that she sleeps a lot!  We collected her a couple of days after all the paperwork with Les Amis was sorted.  What an absolute sweetheart from the very first day, Lula is more than happy to curl up on one of the couches with either one of us and she settled in so quickly, it was like she’s always been here.  We quickly realised she was itching quite a bit even though we had treated her for fleas & worms.  We have an amazing vet local to us, and he treated her with various medications, some worked, some not so much…..

Due to Lula being under the LTF scheme, we decided as a family to rehome another little ‘Oldie’ and not long after we spotted the beautiful Pickle and offered to take her too. As Lula was such a chilled character and Pickle was a little unsure and timid, Les Amis agreed it would be a good fit.  Pickle came to us in July last year, her coat was very matted, so she went straight to our friend who’s a groomer, the little champ came back looking like a different dog! It soon became clear that Pickle also had itchy skin, Les Amis got in touch and suggested we take them both to a specialist dermatologist.  We found a wonderful vet close by and to cut a long story short, they are now completely well and are living their best life.  Pickle and Lula get on so well, we’ve been very lucky as we haven’t had a cross word yet!  I’m happy to report that Lula has lost a little weight too, she was around 9.4Kg when she first came and is now 8.1Kg, she looks amazing and has so much more energy! They are both little characters, we can’t even remember what our lives looked like before we welcomed them into the family and we can’t imagine life without them ❤️

Both these little munchkins are on medication for the rest of their lives, which we hope will be a very long time.  Lula has an autoimmune eye condition, her eye drops costs around €300 per year.  Pickle is on anti allergy medication for her skin, this is expensive, it costs around €876 per year!  As you can imagine this is a huge strain on Les Amis’ finances, if you would like to donate to help these little ones and all the others cats and dogs we have as LTF’s, please click on the following link……
