“You did this! It’s hard to believe the dog I am looking at is the same one we collected at a lay-by at the side of a motorway two years ago. Everything about Mirza has changed since then. It’s almost like she has grown younger, a real life Benjamin Button story unfolding in front of us. It feels like yesterday that I spent dozen days spoon feeding Mirza as she refused to eat. I remember the countless vet visits she so stoically endured, being poked and prodded, never once objecting or complaining. I remember the post op care times two, and her being a dream patient to look after. I remember not quite believing my eyes as her stamina and fitness levels rose to match that of our fit youngster. It seems like yesterday that I declared to my husband she was never supposed to be with us, let alone stay, so no, we are not keeping her. Today we have learned, with military precision, to keep countertops clear of anything that Mirza may consider worthy of a taste test. Today we treasure her enthusiasm and love for walks, food and cuddles. Today we soak up every single howl of delight that she emits. Today she’s an important part of the family. There will be a tomorrow, hopefully, somewhere far in horizon, when we’ll see her health decline. There will be a tomorrow when we have to have the conversation about the last act of love and care. There will be a tomorrow when we must say thank you and bon voyage darling girl. Until then, and way into the distant future of tomorrows, we will remember and remain thankful for the generosity of complete strangers who contributed to Mirza’s happy forever. I hope you can tell how full of life and joy she is, and we hope you bask in the knowledge that this is all thanks to you. You didn’t just support this senior, you saved her. Thank WOOO!”
