Violet, the English bull terrier, is a big love bug, and her foster family feels she knew love in a past life, as well as neglect. Les Amis is only too familiar with dogs where perhaps the owner has died, or gone into care, and there is nobody who wants to take on their pets. They have crashed from a loving home to abandonment, it’s so sad, and must be hard for the dog to understand why everything has changed. Violet moved to her new home in April last year, after a spell in a refuge. She soon settled in with her new friend Picnic who had been a Les Amis puppy. The two get on so well, and that always helps the new dog to relax. Violet was quick to realise she is safe now. With that security comes confidence, which in turn leads to mischief. Violet has been known to use a chair to climb on to the worktop to clean up any leftover cat food! Just being helpful, of course. Violet is much loved, and her current mum really recommends lifetime fostering, it’s so rewarding to give a new life to an older dog. That totally outweighs the sadness of maybe only having them for a few years.
