At Les Amis we always strive to ensure that we have a good match between the family interested in adopting or fostering with us and the cat or dog concerned. I would guess it’s a bit like running a dating agency! There are a few differences – some of our candidates cannot read or write – but they have wonderful skills in other areas – and we have to find out what they are!!
CAN CATS AND DOGS BE FRIENDS?
We see this quite often as a query and the simple answer is YES – they can in the majority of cases. However, it takes patience and time. Some are quite quick to accept one another and others not so.
We are delighted to report that almost all the kittens we fostered last year have now been adopted. From Jan 1st 2024 until March 30th 2025 we have had over 130 cats adopted and several more adoptions are nearing completion.

Hello there! My name is Sparkie (though some humans call me Choupinette), and I’m an 11-year-old Yorkshire with quite the story to tell. You might think an old girl like me wouldn’t have new adventures ahead, but that changed one October evening when my human mum spotted my face on Facebook.
How many of us would know what to do if our beloved cat or dog stopped breathing as the result of an accident or some other trauma? One of the kittens in our care last year had a very lucky escape as foster mum Tracy knew exactly what to do and saved his life.
Every day in Rescue is an interesting day, sometimes a happy fulfilling day, sometimes deeply saddening – but what they are never ever lacking is diversity and variety.
