FAREWELL RAINBOW’S END

Fosterers come and go, sometimes very quickly, others stay to save souls over and over again.  As you know, our work with fosterers is not “one size fits all” – fosterers tend to “specialise” and such was Rainbow’s End.

From the name, you can guess that it was a haven for seniors – usually smalls in their twilight years who had been abandoned in states from good to dire.  This haven was so named by Anita Last and it was her home.  Cats and dogs – beds everywhere – food bowls high and low – a kind hand or lap always available.  She has averaged five oldies at once for the past few years, but has been fostering in this way for at least ten years with us.  An amazing feat!  Unless absolutely impossible for her, the door was never closed.  Some only went for a few days to give us breathing space to find an alternative.  And inevitably, the message would come through, “s/he has settled nicely and will be just fine here”.  And so they were.

Now herself an octogenarian and not in the best of health, RAINBOW’S END has had to close its doors.  Her remaining five you may have seen looking for a new place… and every single one of them has found a new home thanks to our fantastic network of fosterers.  Not all of them are used to taking on a senior but have done so with extremely good grace and an open mind to continue learning.

So at Les Amis, we want to thank RAINBOW’S END for all the lives saved and extended beyond expectation. We are extremely grateful to you, Anita. You will be so missed.
