Vanda is doing well

15 March update

Vanda, the gorgeous puppy abandoned on the side of the road with her siblings and operated on for an untreated broken humerus, is doing very well.

She had a vet appointment on Monday where the bandage came off, and her wound/scar is now totally healed. Her leg is very weak, so Anna, her fosterer, will have to work on getting her to use it. Her elbow joint is also very stiff, and Anna spends a few minutes a number of times a day, massaging it and very gently trying to get her to bend it, as well as her lower leg joints.

Vanda will have her first osteopathy session next Monday with Valerie, the vet. Anna is also planning on buying a baby bath, so Vanda can ‘swim’ in it and use her leg without putting any weight on the joint.

Vanda is living with a pack of dogs much bigger than her, right now. And she is loving it. She is not fazed by them one bit. The photos of her with the big guys are just the cutest!

Anna says ‘She is the most wonderful, little pocket-rocket, even on three legs. She is intelligent and very playful. For a puppy of 4 months, I can’t believe how well she is taking her incarceration. She stays in her playpen without complaining, only squawking a bit when she needs to go out to do her business . She is clean overnight, but ALWAYS widdles a tiny amount, out of excitement, first thing in the morning when I take her out of her cage. She is truly adorable.’
